For about two weeks after I came to Thailand, I used bottled water that I had delivered or bought from supermarkets. I think I used more than 10 bottles a day for cooking the meals.
No matter how much water I bought, I couldn’t keep up …
It was hard to go and buy it, so I ordered deliveries, but it was really hard and stressful work carrying the water from the lobby up to my apartment.
It was really hard to throw away the empty plastic bottles. As soon as I threw them away, more empty bottles appeared … and the room was always cluttered up with empty bottles.
Even twisting the cap of the plastic bottles became stressful.
I did that for only two weeks, but at that time I said, “No more!” and decided to install a water purifier.
Actually, I had been researching water purifier companies online since I was in Japan. But when I actually came to Thailand, I was busy with other things, so I put it off.
So when I decided “I can’t do this anymore!” I did some research again and contacted several companies that had a Japanese service. Of these, Polka Dots responded in a very polite and kind way, so I decided to use Polka Dots.
I don’t have to go out and buy water, and my apartment isn’t cluttered up, so I feel much better. I now have zero stress about water.
I’ve drastically reduced the number of shopping trips, so I think I’m saving money (laughs).
There are so many types of water in plastic bottles that I was worried about which water my child could drink.
Water from water purifiers is pure water, so I can give it to my child without worrying about it.
I also use the water from the water purifier to cool down my baby’s milk.
I find it really convenient when I cook meals.
I used to wash vegetables with one hand while holding the bottle with the other, so it was difficult to remove any impurities, but with the water purifier, clean water comes out of the sink faucet, so I can wash things with both hands, which is really convenient.
There are many other things I worry about every day that I need clean water for, such as boiling eggs, so I use water from the water purifier in various situations.
At first, I tried the free experience with the water softener because I was concerned about my hair and skin problems, but I was more concerned about the brown and turbid water that I was filling the bathtub with ….
When I consulted Polka Dots, they told me that a water filter is better for the smell and impurities of tap water, so I switched to a water filter.
I looked for a room through a real estate company introduced by my husband’s company.
The conditions we set for looking for an apartment were that it was within the company’s rent subsidy allowance, the building and apartments were clean, and that the location was quiet.
The location was between Sukhumvit 39 and Thonglor, which was recommended by my husband’s company, and since he uses a car to commute, I mainly looked for a place where, as far as possible, there would be no traffic jam on the way from the freeway interchange to my house.
